Check the below image to make sure you are not saving a copy of the email on the Server. This settingmay have been set on OE and was corrupted during the migration to Outlook 2007.
outlook-copy-retention.jpg Be aware that Outlook Express is likely to crash around the 2GB mark whereas Outlook 2007 can (not recommended) hold 20GB of messages but no more than 5,000 in the one folder like the Inbox.
