Dear All,

I have a Group Policy Problem.

Let me explain what I did. I created a policy for users that they should not browse Internet but they can send & receive e-mail through outlook & i apply that policy for the OU and it works.

Then i remove that policy from that OU & when i login again with that user from my labtop and i am not able to browse Internt. They i move that user to different OU and still i am not able to browse Internet. Then i log as Admin from same labtop and i am able to browse internet.

Now i will explain how i created a policy.

Under User configuration/Windows Setting/Internet Explorer Maintaince/connection & I chagne Proxy Setting Enable & Poxy address and put fake IP address for http.

Let me know this is right or wrong.

Any one can help me on this.

Thanks In Advance.

Hey Shri,

I was wondering which of our training courses you have. If I know what you have then, I might be able to point you to a particular section that can help you.

Dear Lisa,

I have all training courses for Active Directory.

I was reading on web and i was wondering that my Group Policy is not Synk.

I run a program to get all information of the system ( Msinfo32 ) and when i see the network card information and i see there proxy server and fake IP address that i was give in my Group Policy.

So it means that GP is still active for that user.

I run Group Policy Management console and i run Group policy result for that user on that workstation and when i see under setting and user configuration and still i can see that my Group Policy.

How do i remove that or how do i synk my GP properly.

Thanks In advance Lisa.

If you are using Windows Server 2000, use secedit
If using Windows Server 2003, use gpupdate

There are several switches that can be run in conjunction with these commands and you can also put them into a login script.

You might want to create another policy that explicitly removes the proxy server settings and apply it to the OU that you had previously applied the proxy policy to. Sometimes removing a policy doesn't properly remove the actual registry changes that the policy makes, and this sounds like one of those situations.

So either create two policies (one to use proxy and one to not use proxy) and alternately apply them to the same OU, or apply each to a separate OU and move users back and forth between the OUs to control their internet access ability.

Dear Dave Shackelford,

Thanks for your suggestion and it work. I created two Group Policy as per you & then remove both policy. Now i am able to browse Internet with that user.

Thanks a lot.
