Good evening - Running a 2008 server and using the GPO Folder Redirection feature to redirect the My Documents folder on my XP-Pro SP3 systems.

I went under the same 2008 GPO feature and on the "Music" folder selected the "Not Enabled" feature so that the Music folder would not follow the My Documents folder redirection. Problem is is the Music and Video folders on my XP system are still being redirected. All other folders in the MyDocuments are redirecting without problem, but need to omit these 2 folders in particular.

Has anyone run across this and have a fix for this issue?? Thanks

Well since the music and video folders are sub folders in the my documents folder I would think the gpo woulld move everything in the my documents folder.
I think you can redirect specific folders in my documents like the music folder but once you move a parent folder like my documents everything inside goes.I could be wrong but thats my understanding :p

Thanks TexasIT for the followup. I'm not in front of the server but from what I recall seeing, on the "Video" and "Music" folders the default option is "follow the My Documents" setting. One of the remaining 2 options is "not enabled". This is what I tried and this to me, suggests that you can manage the video/music folder(s) independent of the My Documents parent folder.

I'm wondering if this is a Vista only option? All my w/s's are XP - SP3 machines. Thanks -

Exactly follow the steps as TexasIT says. If you are having Xp Clients enable follow the MyDocument option.

Note:

At the same time in Vista & Windows7 Clients, it have mymusic, mypicture and my videos folder outside the document folder and inside the Documents folder.

If any music file is saved in the music folder, it will automatically replicate that file in both music folder (i.e. inside & outside mydocument's music folder)
