Hi TrainSignal Team,

Greetings!

I am using IBM x226 (2x3.0 GHZ Intel Processor, 4 GB RAM) as a backup domain controller.

Currently Windows 2008 Server Enterprise is working on it.

I tried to install Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise 64 Bit RTM version in this server. But during the initial stage of installization Blue Screen apperars with an error msg "MULTIPROCESSOR_CONFIGURATION_NOT_SUPPORTED"

The Server is updated with latest Bios and firmware.
The 2 processors are same family.

Then i removed one processor and tried to install Windows 2008 R2. Its now working.

How do i make use of 2 processor. If Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit doesn't support multiprocessor.

Suggestion please!

Thankyou.

Check in Device Manager to see if the correct ACPI driver has been installed. (The screenshot is from a Windows 7 install)

Addition to above post.

If not then you will need to try and change the driver to a Multiprocessor driver through Device Manager or manually when you install the operating system. To manually choose the driver you press F5 when it asks you to choose a driver for a RAID or SATA Controller. This was the process for XP and Server 2003 (and earlier O/S) but this will need to be confirmed or corrected by someone with Server 2008 experience.
