I struggled to get the Videos to play in IE7 or IE8. It just kept crashing “Application Error” with Event ID 1000 errors in the Application log saying “Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 8.0.6001.18702, faulting module quartz.dll, version 6.5.2600.5731, fault address 0x00095f51."

I managed to fix this through reducing “hardware acceleration” by 4 notches on the display adapter driver. I’d previously installed all the latest DirectX/display adapters, Windows updates & more – all to no avail.

I made this easier to change by finding the "Acceleration.Level" entry in the registry under HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video - for the correct adapter. I then created two REG files, one to set it low (4), one to set it back (0), and created two batch files containing "REGEDIT /s c:\folder\filename1.REG" etc. Then created 2 shortcuts to the BAT files on my desktop. Net result: I can just run the desktop link to set my "hardware acceleration" level to run TrainSignal, then click the other one to set it back.

I think you should add some comments about reducing hardware acceleration as being a possible fix for video problems on your video help (http://download.trainsignal.com/help/help.html)page...

BTW: Great training guys! Got mine in LA @ TechEd 2009
