Hi there,

i just installed a Exchange 2007 server on a Windows 2003 Server 64bit like advised in the Videos. Everything is working fine, but i cant figure out why there are no Exchange Tabs in the User Properties in the Active Directory Users and Computer. Also if i create a new user in AD no mailbox gets created, but if i add a new Mailbox from the Exchange Management Console its creating a new User in the AD. What did i missed? Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,
Rico

Hi Biggless77,

thanks for your reply. I tried this but its still not showing. I read in this article:

http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/sanderberkouwer/archive/2006/07/28/Exchange-Server-2007-Beta-2-and-the-Active-Directory.aspx that it is not anymore supported. Can someone confirm this?

Cheers,
Rico

That's not how Exchange is managed anymore. You're going to want to create your users in the Exchange Management Console if you want a 1-stop shop for provisioning mailboxes.

The EMS also makes it pretty easy to create a new mailbox for a user that exists in AD but doesn't have a mailbox yet, so if you need to create mailboxes for users you've already built in ADUC, you can go to EMS to do that.

In most large environments, users will be provisioned by a guy sitting at an XP Pro system running the 32-bit Exchange 2007 management tools, not by someone RDP'd into a domain controller. There's no reason why that shouldn't be the case in small-midsized environments as well, even if Exchange is being installed on a domain controller.

Thanks Dave for your reply. That makes all sense. I only thought i missed something at the installation as this info is quite hidden and when you come from a 2003 environment you are used to do everything via AD.

slightly threw me too when I installed it.

I just use EMS to do it all, if a large amount of users, I create a script.
