I had a question for some of you that I can't seem to find a definitive answer on. I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but just wanted to verify from some of the guru's.

We currently have an Exchange 2003 server running in production, and are about to install Exchange 2007 for a coexistence environment (at least for the time being.) I have done all of my prep work (/PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions, /PrepareSchema, etc.) as well as making sure all required software was installed (.NET Framework 2.0, PowerShell, etc.) I have also ran the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer and we are clear to go.

My question was this..........Will the install of Exchange 2007 disrupt service to the Exchange 2003 functionality during the install at all? I wasn't sure if Exchange 2007 would do anything such as dismount the Mailbox Store of Exchange 2003 during the install.

Email is a very critical aspect of this organization, and any downtime to email functionality could cause serious problems. I do have the option of scheduling the install for a weekend perhaps, but, if the Exchange 2007 install will not interrupt email services at all, then I could go ahead and do the install during working hours.

Sorry to sound so paranoid, but I just didn't want our email service (Exchange 2003) to be down for any of our users to do this.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I've been going through the Exchange 2007 training from David S. as well...............it's just that this was a different situation than the training video where it was a fresh install with no existing exchange servers. By the way................great training David. I'm learning alot. Excellent training as always.

Thanks.
