E-mail setup in ESX Server.

I have set up some alarms in my ESX server.

I had a virtual machine in an error state, and I should have received an e-mail message, but I didn't. Could it have something to do with the fact that my e-mail address domain and the domain that my esx servers are set up in aren't the same?

My local domain is 'mycompany.local', but my e-mail address is in the form of 'mycompany.com'

More info, sorry, I should have been more complete..

In Virtual Center Configuration, in the Mail section, I list my mail server as 'servername.mycompany.local', and the mailbox to use is 'virtualcenter'. 'virtualcenter' is a valid mailbox on 'server'. Does this need to be 'virtualcenter@mycompany.com' or 'virtualcenter@mycompany.local' instead of just 'virtualcenter'?
