Not sure if this in the right section or if its a silly question but after seeing the announcement about the technet subscription (http://www.trainsignaltraining.com/why-should-you-have-a-microsoft-technet-plus-subscription/2008-12-01/) i was just curious about a few things.
I basically want to set up a lab environment on my home machine using virtual PC so i can get hands on experience so i can get certifications. With a technet subscription, am i allowed to do this and would i be able to install the products as many times as i like i.e. so i can have a domain with a few windows 2003 servers as well as a few xp clients?

Hi asirep,
Thank you for your question and for visiting www.TrainSignalTraining.com!
The short answer to your question is - YES, you can do this.
To elaborate, TechNet Plus allows you to setup as many Windows server / desktop systems as you want in your test / lab environment - whether that is in virtual PC or on physical PCs.
Hope that clears it up!
Thank you,

thanks for the response!
I don't suppose you know how activation will work? I have red the faqs:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/subscriptions/downloads/cc137104.aspx
but am still a bit unsure. How would it work in a virtual pc? How would activation work considering it says you can only activate a product 10 times (hopefully i wont get anywhere near that number).

You also have the option of not activating it. Of course after a period of time it will stop working but if you are going to be using the product for testing then there is a strong possibility that you will be trashing it and reinstalling before the activation period is required. (Hope that make sense).
As for activation in a Virtual environment, it is the same as in a Physical environment. The 10 activations usually refers to installing Vista on 10 seperate Physical or Virtual environments. You can install the software as many times as you like but only on a maximum of 10 simultanious platforms at the same time.
