My SQL database is on another computer (“Chewbacca”).
I selected the Server Farm installation option
The Sharepoint database was successfully created in SQL Server on Chewbacca
I created the user “ssuser” in SQL Server. I also created “ssuser” windows domain account.
But when I attempt the login using the “ssuser” account in the service account, content access account, and search database fields, the service doesn’t start. I get no errors and it looks like It succeeded but the service didn’t start.

This is very frustrating to me. If you could help me out that would be so cool. I need to get past this one point in the configuration so I can continue on.

1. I have two servers, SHAREPOINT1 and CHEWBACCA 2. I have installed and configured SHAREPOINT1 as my WFE. I selected the Advanced installation option. During the installation I selected CHEWBACCA as my SQL Server server.
The installation successfully connected and created the default instance in SQL server. I verified this on CHEWBACCA.
3. When the installation of the WFE on SHAREPOINT1 completed. I could see CHEWBACCA listed as the SQL Server server. There were no error messages at all 4. I created a new domain user ("sharepointuser") 5. I created a SQL Server login that matches the domain user created in step 4 6. My next task was to start the search service (I'm not a my work computer today so I don't know the exact wording). I entered <domain>\sharepointuser and the domain password in the appropriate fields and clicked OK. I got the rotating green dial thingy indicating it was processing. There were no errors and the service did not start. I checked the eventviewer on both SHARESERVER1 and CHEWBACCA and there were no errors.

I spoke with the instructor of this course and he was not sure what would need to be done without being able to be physically at your system. Because that is not a possibility his suggestion was to contact Microsoft as they may be better equipped to walk you through the issue.

Thanks.
